Consider how the bicycle brakes, for one. Be sure you know how your brakes work and which type you will likely need. Take 9" away from the total of your inseam if you plan to get a road bike. This is to account for the size of tires you will use on a road bike. Road bikes are meant for city cycling—the tires are thinner and work best on concrete paving. For a mountain bike take away 12 inches from your inseam. Mountain bikes have different tires than a road bike. These tires are designed to handle rocky and jagged terrain so are therefore thicker. Mountain bikes can travel on city pavement but that is not what they are designed to do.
Children's bikes have altogether different things to consider. Durable bikes are best, with wide tires to add stability and brakes that are easy to use. You will view definitely have to consider how the bike looks when shopping for a child and you will want to find a well priced bike because children grow so fast. There are plenty of things to consider when choosing a bike. Some people will need a bicycle that can stand up under a lot of wear and tear. While other people just want a bike that is comfortable and will get them from one place to another without risk of breaking down. Price can also really affect your decisions. Be sure to shop around before taking the final decision and parting with your cash. Buying the first bike you find is not advised, in doing this you could end up with a terrible bike and miss out on one that is perfect for you.
